All student-athletes are required to meet certain athletic and academic criteria to be certified to compete at the NCAA, NAIA, or NJCAA levels. Together, we discuss the eligibility process and help create your eligibility profile to ensure you are certified.
Many universities require standardized test scores from either the SAT or ACT exams to determine admission. English proficiency is also required (if your schooling is not in English) - often in the form of TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo test scores. We familiarize you with these exams and help you understand if they are required in your situation.
Together we discuss some of your athletic and academic achievements to formulate a profile that includes your best accomplishments. This is a great initial snapshot and gives collegiate coaches the opportunity to evaluate you as a prospect.
There are an abundance of universities in the United States, but really only a select few that are suitable for each student-athlete. Throughout the process, we carefully highlight and advise you on coaching staffs at universities that would potentially be great matches for you. With our background in collegiate coaching and respected reputation, coaches are receptive and comfortable when communicating with us. This personalized approach is unique and works positively for both collegiate coaches and First Class College Consulting prospective student-athletes.
There are numerous factors that determine whether a university is a great fit for you. The athletic level of the team and where you would fit in/the role you would play, the academic level of the university and the academic degree programs they provide, the location, the relationship to the coaching staff, and the financial aid or scholarship package they may be able to provide. Together, we will work to advise and facilitate the perfect fit for you!
Once selecting the university best suited for you, the overload of paperwork to ensure that you are admitted begins. From sending in your high school transcripts (in both English and in your native language - if that is different), to ensuring the standardized tests scores are met, recommendation letters are received (if necessary), and immunization forms are completed - we are here to serve you and ensure that the admissions process runs efficiently.
All international student-athletes looking to study in the United States are required to have the necessary documents to get through customs upon arrival. Once admitted from the university, we ensure that you have received an I-20 document, which allows you to book an appointment and obtain an F-1 student Visa in your passport at the United States Embassy. Prior to your appointment, there are numerous forms to be completed, which we assist you with to ensure that the whole process goes smoothly.
With the required paperwork in hand, both student-athletes and their families should feel at ease. The only remaining tasks are logistical in nature to start preparing for your journey - rest assured we can also give you guidance when looking at flight possibilities and deciding what to pack for your first semester.
Now that everything is complete and you have earned the opportunity, it is time to embark on the journey, experience the United States, and evolve as a person. Many new challenges await, but this once in a lifetime adventure is totally worth it!
