From the first time I spoke to Matt over the phone while looking at transferring colleges, to meeting him in person, as well as the positive interactions he had with my family during this time, I knew Matt was someone who cared about me as a tennis player as well as an individual. It was very important being an international student-athlete in a foreign country to have someone who was there to listen and who cared about our tennis and personal lives, while at the same time saying what needed to be said and holding everyone accountable.
